Our Mission

Posada recognizes the inherent dignity and worth of every person and is committed to supporting the unhoused through safety and person-centered services. We believe everyone deserves secure shelter, nourishment, stability, and the opportunity to rebuild.

Our mission extends beyond crisis response—Posada works to address the root causes of housing instability by expanding access to affordable homes, offering compassionate care, and ensuring people are connected to the resources and community supports they need to heal, regain stability, and move toward long-term independence.

Who We Are

Posada is a Pueblo-based nonprofit dedicated to preventing and ending housing instability for young adults and families. With a trauma-informed and person-centered approach, Posada provides a continuum of services—emergency temporary shelter, affordable homes, supportive services, youth programs, and long-term housing solutions.

OUR APPROACH

We meet people where they are, offering stability and pathways toward a independent tomorrow. By combining housing, case management, youth support, and critical community partnerships, we help ensure that no one in Pueblo has to navigate being unhoused alone.

Our History

A timeline of the growth, expansion, and increasing impact of Posada over nearly four decades:

1987

Posada was incorporated in February 1987 to address homelessness in Pueblo County, Colorado. By April, Posada began providing emergency services in area churches and temporary locations. By October, Posada opened a shelter at 112 W. D Street.

Reflecting shifts in the homeless population, Posada’s board decided in October 1992 to phase out services to single men and concentrate resources on unhoused families with children.

1993

Posada closed the D Street facility and opened a central office for intake and outreach services. The organization secured additional motel rooms for temporary housing. Posada also purchased the property at 731 E. 4th Street and rehabilitated it into transitional housing for families with children.

Posada purchased the property at 1008 N. Grand Avenue to provide supportive services and house its administrative offices.

CURRENTLY

Posada provides emergency temporary shelter for 12 families: 7 unhoused youth (18-24), 32 units of housing for veterans, and 101 units of affordable permanent housing. Future plans include the development of an 11-acre parcel located on Pueblo’s southside in the agency’s quest to expand affordable housing opportunities, with additional focus on preserving our existing housing stock while continuing to invest in stable neighborhoods and families.

Our Partners in Impact

Posada collaborates with a wide network of community organizations, service providers, faith groups, healthcare partners, and local agencies. These partnerships strengthen our ability to deliver housing, resources, and long-term support.
