Planned Giving

Planned giving allows you to make a significant donation upon your death that you may not have been able to make during your lifetime.

Please talk to your financial analyst or attorney about planned giving that best suits your individual needs and those of your family.

Beneficiary Designations

Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA's): You can add Posada as a beneficiary in your IRA accounts. Simply contact the account administrator and add Posada to the beneficiary list.

Life Insurance Policies: You can leave a continuing legacy by adding Posada as a beneficiary to the policy. Simply contact the policy administrator and add Posada to the beneficiary list.

Bequests

Bequests are used to leave money or assets to a charitable organization through your last will and testament. Bequests can be made any time for any amount you choose. You can simply ask your lawyer or estate planner to include a bequest to Posada in your will, or you can add it yourself using the formats below. A bequest is an effective method of reducing estate taxes, and Posada will issue a tax receipt for the full value of your bequest to reduce the tax payable on your final tax return.

General Bequests - General bequests are legacies left Posada that come from the general value of your estate, and are made by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset or a fixed percentage of your estate to Posada.

General bequest language:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to POSADA OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, the sum of $_____(or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of POSADA and its general purposes."

Specific Bequests - Specific bequests are made when a particular item or property is bequeathed for a designated purpose, for example, Posada's Low Income Housing Endowment Fund (coming soon).

Specific bequest language:

"I give, devise, and bequeath to POSADA OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, the sum of $_____ (or a description of the specific asset), for the benefit of POSADA to be used for the following purpose: POSADA'S LOW INCOME HOUSING ENDOWMENT FUND. If at any time in the judgment of the trustees of POSADA it is impossible or impracticable to carry out exactly the designated purpose, they shall determine an alternative purpose closest to the designated purpose."

Residuary Bequests - Residuary bequests are made when you intend to leave the residue portion of your assets after other terms of the will have been satisfied.

Residuary bequest language:

"All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to POSADA OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, for its general purposes."

Contingency Bequests - Contingency bequests allow you to leave a portion of your estate to Posada if your named beneficiary does not survive you.

Contingency bequest language:

"I devise and bequeath the residue of the property, real and personal and wherever situated, owned by me at my death, to (name of beneficiary), if she/he survives me. If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to POSADA OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, for its general purposes."
